A Naivasha AP officer shot his girlfriend 19 times before killing himself on Sunday evening after a heated argument.
The incident began when the drunk officer by the name Gideon Emanman confronted his girlfriend, identified as Margaret Nduta, at her working station. It is then that Emanman shot her before turning on himself.
According to Samuel Kiragu, an eye witness, three bullets hit her on her hips before he fled.
“Thinking he had killed her, the officer retreated to the camp where he shot himself on the head dying on the spot,” he stated.
According to investigators, Nduta is currently receiving treatment at Naivasha sub-county hospital in a critical condition.
A report recorded at Kongoni Police Station stated, “APC Gideon Emanman who was reported firing indiscriminately at Nduro trading center has been found having shot himself dead in a house at Kipkunyo AP camp. He broke the house of an officer who was on duty to seek refuge when he realized the police were pursuing him."
Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner John Opondo confirmed the incident citing that Emanman operated at Kipkonyo chief’s camp in Moi Ndabi.
“The AP officer after shooting the girlfriend went back to the camp and shot himself dead. An inquest file has been opened,” he indicated.
The incident comes a week after a GSU officer in Kwale is said to have shot himself in the head.
