City Tycoon Kelvin Shaban and owner of popular Laviva Lounge in conjunction with his Kelvin Shaban Foundation yesterday hosted a Charity Football tournament that brought together four of the most formidable football teams drawn from all over Nairobi.
The tourney, which was held at Mahiga Primary School grounds in Kahawa West, saw four teams face off in a bid to win an array of prizes that included cash money and customized football jerseys.
Shaban also used the opportunity to reach out to the homeless and the disadvantaged street kids from almost all the Children Homes around Roysambu constituency.
The street kids, who numbered over 600, were all gathered from eight of the most renown children homes in Roysambu, with each benefiting hugely as they were all gifted brand new shoes, clothes, school items, toys, books and bags of food.
On the pitch, the Kahawa FC, ABC FC, Kahawa Sportiff and Soweto FC teams faced off in a stiff soccer marathon as the race to win the cash and jerseys hit fever pitch.
And after a stiff face off, Soweto FC finally won the tournament and was awarded Ksh 20,000 in cash and all the players were gifted with customized jerseys.
The teams that took second and third place were also awarded Ksh 15,000 and Ksh 10,000 respectively and also, with football jerseys.
It was a culmination of a busy day that saw hundreds of children walk away with countless goodies and footballers get feted, appreciated and boosted.
