KNUT Announces Date for Nationwide Teachers Strike

The vocal secretary general indicated that the recent transfer of teachers by TSC was a violation of labour rights.
We are protesting disruption of teaching service and families through the irregular policy of delocalisation and transfers.

“We can't contemplate teachers losing their families,” remarked Sossion.
Lack of promotion for teachers
The union boss further argued that TSC had made things worse instead of finding a solution to the issues raised in regards to promotion of teachers.
We are withdrawing labour to protest withdrawal of the rights of teachers to promotions on account of merit, long service and new and relevant higher qualifications,” stated the KNUT Secretary general.

The commission on Tuesday announced the transfer of 3,094 head teachers across the country.
The transferred head of schools who belong to both Secondary and Primary schools were given up-to December 28 to hand over.

In 2017, a directive was implemented that blocked teachers from serving in their home counties for a period of over five years.
