Flying Squad detectives have launched a man haunt for a man believed to to be running an illegal health facility in Kayole, Nairobi used in procurement of abortions.
This emerged after two people were arrested at the clinic and intimated to the detectives that it is owned by Mugo wa Wairimu.
Wairimu was arrested in 2015 after being suspected of sedating and raping women who sought services at his clinic, the Standard reported on Monday, November 5.
According to Flying Squad boss Musa Yego, two suspects were arrested at the facility following a tip off on the illegal business.
The employees were operating without proper certification from relevant authorising agencies.
Yego said Wairimu was being pursued so that he could be questioned by investigators concerning the case.
During the arrest, officers recovered equipment believed to be among tools used in conducting abortions.
In 2015, Wairimu was arrested and charged with various offenses among them obtaining money with false pretense, running an unregistered health facility and operating without a licence.
He was then operating the business in Githurai 44 and was also charged with raping a woman after giving her unidentified tablets.
This came to the fore after a video of a person believed to be him raping a patient went viral triggering public outrage.
He was also on the spot for using a radiation equipment without authority from Radiation Protection Board.
He, however, denied the charges and was released on a KSh 2 million bond with a surety of a similar amount.
