Have you ever wondered what else you can do with lemon and lemon peels?
Apart from the commonly known uses and health benefits of lemon juice, there are a couple of things you can do with the lemons around the house.
1. FRESHEN THE FRIDGE
A smelly fridge is a common thing in many homes. The lemon juicy could be really helpful in removing odours from your fridge. Dip a ball of cotton wool in lemon juice and leave it in the fridge for several hours.
2. CLEANING MICROWAVES AND OVENS
Most of the times you find food particles stuck on the walls of either the microwave or the oven. This becomes a tedious task in terms of cleaning. However, you can now use lemons to clean up this mess. Mix 3 tablespoons of lemon juice into 1 ½ cups of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 5-10 minutes allowing the steam to condense on the walls and the ceiling. Wipe away the dirt with a wet cloth.
3. KEEPING INSECTS OUT OF THE KITCHEN
Pour some lemon juice in every insect invaded part in your kitchen, both holes and cracks where the insects hide. Scatters small sliced pieces of lemon peels around the entrance to scare roaches and fleas away. Mix the juice of 4 lemons and 2 litres of water and clean your floors. The roaches and flea will scatter, they hate the lemon smell.
4. BRIGHTENS ALUMINIUM
Rub the half cut lemon on the aluminium surfaces then buff them with a soft cloth, this leaves the surface shinny like never before.
5. AIR FRESHENER
Simple steps: slice some lemons, put them in water and let them simmer in a pot for an hour. This will give the whole house the lemon fragrance.
