Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has asked Deputy President William Ruto to support the referendum push, saying they could even create a special seat for the DP.
Malala said that they were willing to incorporate the position of Chief Opposition Leader which Ruto may occupy if he loses the 2022 Presidential election.
The Kakamega senator, who has emerged as one of Odinga’s point men in Western Kenya, was speaking at a function in his county.
Malala told Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, who was at the function, to deliver the message to the Deputy President as the audience burst in laughter.
“You never know, Ruto could just need the Official Opposition seat when that time comes. He must support push for referendum for us to create that office for him in advance,” the outspoken legislator stated.
