Governor Okoth Obado's wife Hellen Adhiambo recorded a statement with the DCI which reveals shocking details of the relationship between her husband and the late Sharon Atieno.
In a statement recorded on September 23, Hellen mentioned that an unknown man called her from Awendo and revealed that Sharon wanted to record a sex tape with Obado.
The man who only identified himself as the friend of the family, informed her that Sharon was booked at the Imperial Hotel in Kisumu where the sex episode was to be videotaped.
On calling her husband he dismissed the allegations and insisted that he was not booked at the hotel.
"I told him that I had information of a plan of recording him with Sharon. He dismissed the allegations and maintained that he was not booked at the Imperial Hotel," the statement read.
She disclosed that this was the first time she heard of Sharon.
According to the Star, Obado later sat her down in May and admitted his affair with Sharon, even telling her the Rongo University student was pregnant.
"I asked him if he was planning to marry Sharon as a second wife. I told him that I honestly preferred he married instead of having affairs. He told me he had no such plans and that he had ended the relationship with the said girl.
"It was then that I asked him how he was going to bring the baby home without informing our children. We agreed to sit with our children, as the talk of Sharon's pregnancy became common," she revealed.
Hellen further reported that Obado was in Nairobi on the night of Sharon's gruesome murder.
"My husband, our first and third born, left Migori for Nairobi on September 2. They arrived late in the evening and did not leave the house.”
On September 3 she allegedly spoke with Mama Ida Odinga through the governor's phone.
"My husband had left home for the Jaffery Club and had a meeting later with Ida. He returned after 8pm and did not leave the house."
Hellen intimated that she knew Michael Oyamo as the Governor’s PA and Michael Oyamo.
"I communicate with Caspal when he occasionally handles my personal errands by virtue of clan relations with my husband. I have never spoken to Oyamo or Caspal about Sharon or the latter's pregnancy," she stated.
