Kenyans can be heartless. They will say anything without thinking about the consequences. Slain University student Sharon Otieno’s family has been an easy target by trolls.
A copy of Sharon’s burial budget has been doing rounds on social media leaving tongues wagging.
Apparently, the family is asking for Sh2.3 million for her burial contrary to earlier reports that they wanted Sh1.1 so as to give their loved one a better send off.

Sharon Otieno’s family has come out to dismiss the rumours and the funeral committee chairman Elijah Opiyo said that the burial budget was Sh. 1.1 million. While addressing journalists in Homa Bay on Monday, he said that those were malicious people behind the exaggerated budget, who painted the family in a bad way.
Not so long ago, Sharon’s mother, Melinda Auma became the talk of the town after she allegedly pleaded with the County government of Migori to give her ‘upkeep’ money since she was the ‘breadwinner’.
She later came out to diesel the rumours saying:
WE DO NOT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN ANY WAY WITH MIGORI COUNTY OR ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES. WE HAVE NOT ASKED FOR ANY HELP FROM THEM. WE KNOW SOME OF THOSE PRODUCING AND SPREADING SUCH NEWS ARE OBADO’S PEOPLE.
