Media personality Julie Gichuru has been forced to apologize after she was shamed by CNN Business anchor Richard Quest.
The mother of five was forced to eat a humble pie after she misquoted the business journalist who has been in Kenya for the past week.
“Nothing beats the service industry in Kenya… here I am surrounded by giraffes while having breakfast! In a country declared by the World Bank as the Preferred Investment Destination in Kenya… what else can I ask for? KENYA is MAGICAL!” Richard Quest,” read Julie's tweet.
Quest who caught a glimpse of the tweet then responded to Julie saying that he never said what was in her tweet but he was having a good time in Kenya.
“Ahh Julie…. A nice pic and sentiments. But I never actually said that! (Even though I am having a very good visit)” read Mr. Quest’s tweet.
After the response, Julie Gichuru went on to apologize saying that it was only one of the short comings that come with the digital age.
“Ok, I am fanning out right now @richardquest Pole sana Richard, thought it was a real quote challenges of the digital era. Enjoy Kenya, it is Magical,” she said.
Julie also deleted her earlier tweet and at the same time quoted Richard Quest’s response with the words, “Correction to my earlier post. Nice pic and sentiment but NOT a QUOTE. Delighted that Richard is having a good visit.”
Quest has been in the country for the past week as he is expected to cover news on the inaugural direct flight from Kenya to the United States.
