Deputy President William Ruto has urged detectives to speed up investigations into the mysterious death of an administration police officer who was found lifeless in his house on Thursday, February 20.
The embattled Jubilee deputy party leader whose office has been dragged into the multi-billion military tender scam said he was deeply saddened by the death of police sergeant Kiyegon Kenei who was on duty when Rashid Echesa and two foreigners visited his office.

Ruto described the deceased as a disciplined officer who performed his duties diligently.
"Deeply saddened by the death of Police Sergent Kipyegon Kenei who worked in my Harambee House Annex Office. Kenei was a disciplined young police officer. I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death," he tweeted.
The country's second in command condoled with the family and friends of the officer whose death has raised more questions than answers.
"My heartfelt thoughts to the family, colleagues and friends. Rest In Peace," he said.
Kenei was found with a bullet wound at his house in Imara Daima, Nairobi.
Police said the sergeant had been missing for two days and was expected to record a statement over the KSh 39.5 arms scandal in which Ruto's office is at the centre of attention.
His other four colleagues who were on duty with him on the day the former Sports CS visited have been grilled on the matter.
After admitting that his office was used to pursue the fake military scam, Ruto wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to investigate a possible breach of security at his office.
Echesa allegedly used the DP’s office to swindle KSh 11 million as brokerage fees from directors of Eco Advanced Technologies Company in the pretext of being in a position to help them win the lucrative tender.
