
Six suspects aged 18 and below have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a nine-year-old boy in Kakamega County.
Kakamega County Police Commander Wilkister Vera said the boy’s mother reported to police that she had received a call from someone demanding Ksh.50,000 for the release of her son whom she had just released to attend Madrassa at a nearby mosque on Sunday morning.
According to the police commander, an operation was immediately launched leading to the arrest of the suspects who led security officers to Shitungu area where the boy’s body was found in a partially covered ditch.
The body, which had a deep cut on the neck, was moved to the Kakamega Hospital Mortuary.
Four of the suspects are aged 16, one of them 17 and the other 18.
