The murder trial of a Nairobi businesswoman who was allegedly killed by two police officers at City Park last year is likely to start afresh.
This is after the two accused persons – William Kipkorir ChirChir and Godfrey Kipng’etich Kirui – appointed new lawyers to defend them in the case.
The two police officers have previously denied one count or murder of businesswoman Janet Wangui Waiyaki on May 20, 2018.
“ChirChir and Kirui have since fired their former lawyers, Ham Lagat and Felix Kiprono, and have instructed their new lawyers led by Onyango to represent them in the case. Onyango is equally representing the two officers in a case where they face charges of attempting to murder Chege,” the court heard.
Three witnesses, including the deceased’s husband, had testified in the case.
The court will on Friday make a ruling on whether the hearing will start afresh and re-call the three witness or not.
