Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on Tuesday narrated the inhumane treatment he received in the hands of police officers since he was arrested on Friday.
The politician told journalists that he developed health complications from tear gas that chocked him as police officers were executing the arrest.
He stated that they hounded him into a vehicle and drove him to Kisumu Central Police Station and confined him a room without aeration.
They then proceeded to met violence on him until he passed out.
“My room had no proper ventilation, the police harassed and kicked me. At some point, I lost consciousness before my bodyguard was allowed to resuscitate me,” Malala narrated.

He also accused the officers of denying him vital medicine and food until Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi intervened.
The senator has threatened to sue Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai.
“My legal team is preparing the suit and when the time comes, I will go to court to get justice for unlawful detention,” Malala disclosed.
The politician, who was arrested on Friday in connection to a gang that has been on a murder spree in Matungulu, claimed that police officers apprehend VIPs on Fridays to take advantage of the long weekends to torture them.
