Citizen TV journalist, Emmanuel Cheboit has gone into hiding after a source he interviewed on the disappearance of relief food was abducted on Sunday.
Cheboit narrated that he had decided to go into hiding for fear of his life, adding that no one had threatened him but was taking precaution.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, he stated that he had interviewed three people, all who had received threats from county bloggers who are alleged allies and lieutenants of county officials.
" I am worried that when they finish with them they will come for me," he stated.
The relief food in question had allegedly been donated by Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko to the hunger-striken Turkana residents. However, sources interviewed by Cheboit narrated that the residents had not received the food.
"A Turkana county blogger sent a message to all WhatsApp groups in Turkana county warning all those that were interviewed to stay vigilant," one of the interviewees told Kenyans.co.ke.
He added that those that had spoken during the interview were asked to confess that their sentiments were not true, failure to which they would be locked up in private cells.
Benedictus Maraka, one of those that had been interviewed was abducted following the threats after he had earlier shamed the county officials.
"Shame on the thieves who stole relief food," he stated in a television interview.
However, he was released after he was forced to make a video of him apologizing for his earlier comments.
A three-minute clip had later gone viral on social media of Maraka refuting claims that the county officials were involved in stealing of the food.
