
Three teenage girls from Kibera, Nairobi county risk discontinuing their education for a while after a 16-year-old boyfriend impregnated them within a period of six months.
The minors all of whom aged between 13 and 15 unknowingly fell in love with the single charming boy late 2018 and early 2019 shortly after which they conceived from the juvenile affairs.
In an interview with NTV, on Saturday, March 30, one of the girls disclosed she met the would-be father of her child during a photo shoot before both of them became love-struck.
" I met him during a photo shoot and from that day we kept in touch with each other. After one and half month, I realised I was heavy. He later denied responsibility when I confronted," she narrated.
To her utter disbelief, the Form One student discovered she was sharing her boyfriend with two other girls who are now pregnant with one in her second month.
For another victim, 13, her case was different as she did not intend to date since there was no love between her and the suspect but she found herself showered with various gifts and one thing led to the other.
According to a recent Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) report on teenage pregnancy prevalence, Narok county topped the list with a rate of 40%.
Homa Bay County comes in second with 33%, in the third position was West Pokot (29%), Tana-River and Nyamira (28%) and in the sixth position was Samburu with 26%.
