The residents of Engachura village in Bahati, Naukru county, were left in shock and dismay after a woman brutally stabbed her own child to death following a suspected disagreement with her husband.
The killer mother then turned on herself and stabbed her stomach with kitchen knife in desperate attempts to take her own life after ending that of her five years old son.
We on Monday, March 18, gathered the mother, identified as Sharon Wangari, 28, was rescued by neighbours who found her bleeding profusely and with the lifeless body of her son lying in a pool of blood next to her.
The mother, Citizen Digital reported, was rushed to Bahati Hospital then transfered to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital where she is recuperating, after which she would be taken to court to answer for the murder of her son and attempted suicide.
Although we could not immediately establish the reason why Wangari decided to kill her son, unconfirmed reports indicated she had been involved in some altercations with her husband who was yet to be identified.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru North police boss, Jacinta Mwarania, said they had already commenced probe into the heinous crime to get to the bottom of what transpired.
This, however, was not the worst case or the first time that incidents of suspected domestic disputes in Nakuru ended tragically.
In November 2015, the residents of Freehold estate in Nakuru town were also left deep shocked after a jilted 38-year-old husband, identified as Jack Omondi, allegedly murdered estranged wife, Olivia Osidiana, 36, before hanging himself above her body in front of their two children.
Bodies of the husband and wife were discovered in their house by neighbours who had been attracted by sounds of crying children and a foul smell coming from the house.
They broke into the house, only to find an 11-month-old baby boy crying, as he struggled to breastfeed from his dead mother.
Another child, a six-year-old boy, was also crying as he attempted to pull his baby brother from the murder scene.
Above the heartbreaking scene was dangling body of the woman’s husband of over five years.
