Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, has suffered his first blow in his presidential journey after a party associated with former President Mwai Kibaki disowned him.
In a statement on Thursday, Democratic Party Deputy Secretary General, Wambugu Nyamu, said the party doesn’t know who Moses Kuria is.
On Wednesday, Kuria bragged how DP, which is associated with Kibaki, had approached him to be their presidential candidate.
But Nyamu dismissed Kuria’s claims that the party had approached him and said the party has a process of picking their presidential candidate and the vocal lawmaker is only dreaming.
"DP has an elaborate process on how to nominate its presidential candidate with a requirement that any presidential candidate for DP must be a DP life member, of which Kuria is not," he stated.
DP National Chairman, Esau Kioni, said Kuria is dreaming because he cannot be the presidential flag bearer of the party.
"It hit us on the face that someone who is not a member of the party had declared himself as a candidate in our party.”
