Panic at Kenyatta University Library After Loud Bang



Tension and panic engulfed Kenyatta University on Monday afternoon after a loud bang emerged from the modern library building.

Pictures and videos shared online show the students and other institution personnel running for their lives in fear of a possible attack.

The students engage desperate measures of jumping from the buildings and climbing the fences at the venue escaping after the false alarm.

There were also reports indicating that some of the students got serious injuries during the commotion.

It was clear from the shared pictures and videos that there was struggle and scuffle as some of the students engaged desperate measures to scramble to safety.

Reports indicate that some students were forced to jump from as high as the second floor of the building, falling down and getting seriously wounded.
However, it was established that the bang was caused by a lift in the library building which malfunctioned and crashed.

Responding to us, the management of Kenyatta University Library confirmed that there was unrest at the institution on Monday.

The management, however, declined to comment on whether a lift had crashed due to a possible fault or hitch in the system.

It nonetheless confirmed that the university had begun procedures of a comprehensive investigation into the matter to ascertain the real cause of the unrest.
