The death of Meru National Polytechnic student Fridah Makena took Kenyans by a storm due to the manner in which she died.
Fridah decided to take her own life after she found out that her boyfriend ‘Kelvoh’ was cheating on her citing that she had had enough and couldn’t live without him.
What shocked Kenyans the most is the fact the Makena recorded herself taking a number of white pills and was found dead on March 1, 2019.
According to one of Makena’s friends, who sought anonymity, the deceased was really hurt by the fact the boyfriend cheated on her while she watched.
She says Makena loved him so much that she traveled all the way from Meru to Cooperative University in Nairobi to visit the boyfriend.
“I think what hurt her most was not her boyfriend’s cheating, but the fact that he rubbed it in her face and made sure she knew. She loved him so much and was terribly hurt,” said Makena’s friend.
However, according the eulogy during her burial held on Thursday 7 March, Makena died to liver and kidney failure.
"On February 25, 2019, she was taken ill and admitted at Nkubu Consolata hospital where she underwent treatment...On February 28, 2019, as she was receiving treatment, her condition worsened due to kidney and liver failure...she succumbed while undergoing treatment," read the eulogy.
