Pictures of a lady showing injuries reportedly sustained from being battered by her spouse caused quite a stir on various social media platforms on Wednesday.
The lady identified as Lydia Kemunto disclosed that she had been brutally beaten up by her boyfriend – Neville Jakababa, over the weekend.
The Director of Public Prosecutions office swooped into action and affirmed that they had contacted Ms Kemunto and were in hot pursuit of the suspect.
“We have been able to get in touch with the victim. All necessary legal steps shall be taken to ensure justice is done,” DPP divulged in a tweet.
Ms Kemunto also claimed that it was the third time he had physically abused her, adding that she had reported the matter at the Industrial Area Police Station.
“I have been brutally beaten by my boyfriend on 3 occasions and the most recent one happened on Saturday. The guy’s name is Neville Jakababa. I reported to Industrial Area Police,” she narrated in her tweet.
She went on to disclose that she had been in the abusive relationship for the past 6 months, affirming that her latest ordeal was just one among many experienced over the period.
Her heart-wrenching story prompted a surge of uproar by netizens, the majority of whom were baying for Mr Jakababa’s blood, while some offered to fix her hair after it was shaved crudely during her battering.
“If you know her, I can help regrow her hair. I am a Trichologist and a hair transplant expert. At no cost,” tweeted one well-wisher.
Netizens launched #justiceforkemunto and tagged various authorities to ensure that she would get help.
“I hope you will not forgive him and makeup. Let the law deal with him. We have lost one too many young girls to this vice. This person has the potential to end your life. Cut him out of your life,” stated one of the hundreds of netizens who were moved by her chilling photos.
