Completely overwhelmed by emotions, Makswell, who lost his child to his in-laws, planted a soft kiss on his little girl’s cheek as he clenched onto her tightly.
Baby Tamara was rescued and taken away from the hands of Makswell’s in-laws by Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers from the Child Protection Unit.
Two unidentified people were arrested during the rescue mission that took place on Wednesday, March 6.
Makswell left people in tears when he took to Facebook on Thursday, February 28, to plead with Kenyans to help him locate and rescue his little girl.
"To my little girl Tamara, daddy is really sorry I could not be able to take care of you any longer. I know I have failed you. I was the only person who was to protect you from these people but instead I chose to let them have you,” he said.
The father of one who was sharing his story from the confines of a police station narrated how his wicked in-laws forcibly took his baby after his wife died from liver related complications.
Makswell went ahead to allege his late wife’s family accused him of kidnapping baby Tamara and denying her lifesaving medical attention.
"Annette Kimuomi had told the officers that Rena died of HIV and that Tamara was born positive, so the officer told me that these people have money and they can do anything so if I know what is good for me then I should give them the child," wrote Makswell.
He later said he was forced into giving up the fight after police officers threatened to kill him.
Makswell opened up on how his late wife asked him to protect their child moments before she died.
The heartbroken father claimed his late wife's family was known for using children to garner money from donors under the pretence of running an orphanage.
“I gave in because this is the only way I could have lived to fight this off. I was bundled into the police vehicle and they took my child. That is how I lost my child, the one I promised her mother that no one would ever take away from me," he said.
"I inquired with one of Rena’s cousin he told me that the family had taken two children from one of their in laws after their mother died and that they use these children to ask for funds from donors pretending that the children are total orphans," Makswell narrated.
