Detectives in charge of the murder of Mary Wambui on Tuesday claimed that Joseph Kori was not present on the day his wife was murdered.
A detective who spoke to Nation, stated that preliminary investigations showed that Kori was in Ngong on the day Wambui was murdered.
“Based on his mobile phone records and his car tracking device, he (Kori) was in Ngong on the day of the murder and left at 9pm, when he drove back to Roysambu.
“He was never at Fourways junction,” stated the detective.
DCIO Obed Kiio, who spoke to the media house at Juja Police Station, affirmed that call data obtained from Safaricom indicated that Kori, who is one of the main suspects in the case, was not at the scene.
Further investigations stated that a review of the CCTV footage at Fourways showed that the car of husband to the deceased was nowhere in the residence.
Key arrest made
On Monday, the law enforcers arrested a taxi driver who was believed to have aided Kori and Judy Wangui, his girlfriend, to transport the dead body of the Kiambu businesswoman.
The motorist whose identity was withheld, had recorded a statement and was detained in order to be arraigned in court.
The arrest of the driver had led to the discovery of bloodstained clothes and blood swabs that are believed to belong to the late Wambui.
