Murang'a Police Officer Defiles Colleague's 13-Year-Old Daughter Inside OCS' Office

Murang'a police officer defiles colleague's 13-year-old daughter inside OCS' office

A 13-year-old Class Seven girl at Ndura Primary School in Gatanga, Murang'a county, has been admitted at the reproductive health unit of Thika Level Five Hospital after she was defiled by a police officer.

The pupil who is currently undergoing treatment was allegedly defiled by a police constable in the office of the Officer Commanding Police Station (OCS) at Kituamba Police Station.

The alleged perpetrator of the heinous act is an officer at the facility, while the father to the victim is a corporal and the officer in charge of the police station.

We caught up with the officer who disclosed how his colleague who was posted to the facility in September 2018 from Taita Taveta county had been sexually molesting her third born child and threatening her of dire consequences should she expose him.

The matter came to light on Sunday, February 17, where the officer disclosed he had defiled her seven times with the first incident taking place on December 24, 2018, on the eve of Christmas Day.

The victim's father revealed his daughter told him together with her mother that the officer committed the act right inside the OCS’s office and used a tissue paper to wipe the blood as it was her first time to engage in sex.

He accused the officer of taking advantage of her daughter saying he trusted him as a colleague.

The distraught father said he was the one who welcomed the beastly man at the station and further revealed that his children respected and referred to him as “uncle” as he was like a father figure to them.

The Corporal said his junior preyed on his daughter when together with her mother, they were away from home during the day and in the evening.

We established that the two are the only officers at Kituamba police station as a replacement was yet to be done for two other officers who were transferred last year.

“Our daughter revealed to us that the other incidents took place in the toilet where the officer followed her there when going for a call of nature within the police station compound that has an overgrown of shrubbery.

"She also explained that the officer had threatened to strangle her to death and enticed her with KSh 500 to go and buy chips (french fries) and the last time he defiled her was on Tuesday, February 7,” narrated the officer.

The victim's father who was accompanied by his wife said their daughter made more shocking revelations of what she underwent in the hands of the officer who at times she served food.

The officer does not live with his family at the police quarters.

“Our daughter told us how the officer used to give him his mobile phone to watch pornographic videos and directed her to remove her inner wear and while naked, take photos of her private parts that the officer enjoyed looking at after she handed the mobile phone back to him," the mother explained.

She also accused senior police officers in the county of showing no interest in the matter by not even apprehending the suspect after the incident was brought to their attention.

“My husband though traumatised is calm but I am afraid since he is the one in charge of the armoury where the guns are kept what can happen if he acts with rage as the officer is still on duty at the police station.

"As a family, we are living in fear and my other children have been relocated to stay at my husband’s sister in Thika as we fear for their safety,” said the distraught mother.

We  managed to talk with the medical officer in charge of Thika Level Five Hospital, Patrick Nyaga, who said the victim was asthmatic but was admitted at the facility because of sexual molestation.

“Today is the third day the girl is admitted here after being referred from Murang'a and she is responding well to treatment. In course of our treatment we have established that she has been defiled,” said Nyaga.

On his part, Murang'a county Police Commander Josephat Kinyua said the law would take its course and described the alleged offence as serious.

He gave the name of the officer implicated in the offence as Michael Mwandi.

“We are recording statements and once we are through, the officer will be arrested and arraigned in court. We assure the aggrieved victim, her family and the public at large that the law will take its course because as the National Police Service we have nothing to hide,” said police commander.
