Dennis Oliech failed to show up for Gor Mahia Camp ahead of Sunday’s crucial Caf Confederation Cup round three fixture against Algeria’s NA Hussein Dey at the Kasarani Stadium over nonpayment of his sign on fee.
K’Ogalo players plus technical stuff checked in for residential camp Friday evening with Oliech a no show, Kahawa Tungu can confirm.
Oliech wants his sign on fee plus part of his January salary, which was reportedly hived off for unclear reasons, to be paid before he can resume duty with the Kenyan champions.
The club’s treasurer Sally Bolo told our sports desk that efforts are being made to settle the long standing sign on fees latest next week.
“I know that the sign on fee has not been paid but we are doing so by next week,” said Sally.
She also disclosed that the club honoured a promise to pay each player, who played in the preliminary rounds of the Confederation Cup Ksh 100k for making the ground stage, including Oliech, who came on board at the mini league stage.
All the players have also received their January salary in full with only winning bonuses still pending.
But a source close to the player said the former Harambee Stars skipper is unhappy that the club has been taking him in circles over his sign on fees.
Oliech scored the final goal in Gor Mahia’s historic 4-2 will against Zamalek SC of Egypt in their opening Group D match.
