Police raided a house where one of the DusitD2 attackers used to live in Bondeni, Mombasa, on Thursday at 3am.

The area is inhabited by a large number of people from the Somali community.

The suspect is reported to have sneaked from Boni Forest and lived in the house for four months before shifting to Machakos and finally Kiambu.

Investigators traced the house using records retrieved from a phone recovered from the car that was used by the gunmen, a police source privy to probe said.

County police boss Johnstone Ipara did not deny or confirm the claims of the raid.

"The operation is being handled from Nairobi. Let us wait and hear what they have to say," he said.

It's not clear what the police found in the house.
