Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has received Kshs94 million in preparation for the 2019 Devolution Conference in which President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attend.
Waiguru confirmed that all 47 counties contributed Kshs2 million each in preparation for the annual event.
Speaking at Gitwe Primary School, Waiguru further disclosed that the national government was engaged in the preparations for the conference to be hosted in Kirinyaga County.
"We are working in partnership with the government to improve roads which will be used by the delegates,” she stated.
The funds would be used in hosting Governors, their deputies and other members of county assemblies besides other delegates expected from around the globe.
Waiguru also divulged that accompanying President Uhuru will DP William Ruto and other high-ranking diplomats.
She, therefore, promised tight security during the five-day event while calling on locals to turn out in large numbers to welcome the guests.
"We have held meetings with security officers from the region to discuss how the delegates will be protected during the conference," she confirmed.
She also took the opportunity to address her alleged wrangles with members of Kirinyaga County Assembly.
“There is no bad blood between me and the assembly. Only a handful MCAs are quarrelling and this is normal in politics,” she explained.
