Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations raided the National Transport and Safety Authority headquarters in Nairobi’s Upper Hill.
Reports indicated that the raid was caused by an ongoing investigation over the registration of the vehicle that was used by terrorists during the 14 Riverside Drive attack.
The sleuths sealed off the building and barred the public from seeking services there until they finish their search.
Similar plates
According to reports, detectives are seeking to establish who was involved in the illegal registration since there is another vehicle with the same number plates.
An insurance official is among 17 people so far arraigned in court over the terror attack, as police seek more others.
Police had found a vehicle in Kitengela which had similar number plates with a car used by terrorists who attacked the DusitD2 business complex.
The Toyota Ractis which had registration number KCN 340E was discovered in an apartment on the Kitengela - Balozi road and later towed to the police station.
Fraud
Security forces pointed out that the vehicle was illegally registered which could have led to the raid at the NTSA offices.
According to police, preliminary findings showed the Toyota Ractis with registration number plate KCN 340E that was used in the attack was grey, however, details at the NTSA indicated the colour of the vehicle as light blue.
Traders operating outside the Chiromo Campus hostels said they had been seeing the vehicle parked there for the last one week.
Ruaka residents alerted the police of the vehicle's activities when they saw the car on the DusitD2 crime scene.
