Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Tuesday blamed cartels for spreading rumours in regards to lack of materials for the new police uniforms.
Matiangi stated that the project to make new police uniforms locally was still on track.
“We have no problems providing our police officers with uniforms.
“We have actually paid for the new uniforms and they are being done,” remarked Matiang'i.
No importation of new police uniforms
The Interior CS was responding to an article that was published in one of the local dailies that claimed there was shortage of the materials needed to make new uniforms.
The once Education CS, pointed out that the government would not import the new uniforms and would not be manipulated to do so by cartels that sought to sabotage the initiative.
“Why would the government put budget resources to revive Rivertex and provide jobs then proceed like fools to import uniforms?” questioned the Interior CS.
The new uniforms that were launched by Kenyatta in September, were meant to improve visibility of the officers.
The new uniforms were part of the reforms introduced by the government to better the services offered by the police.
