Jacque Maribe had been spending the better part of her days incarcerated at the Langata Women’s Prison pending the bail rulings that happened yesterday.

This is because she and her fiance, Joe Irungu have been charged with the murder of Monica Kimani. While in remand some may have wondered what she may be wearing at the center?
According to a source who spoke to Word Is, Jacque has been following the rules like all the other remamdees. In there the prison uniform is different from the stripped black and white uniforms worn by the convicts in Langata Women’s Prison.

Because her court case is still ongoing, Jacque has been placed in remand and her uniform is a simple grey dress. The source said:
SHE IS WEARING PRISON UNIFORM, SLIPPERS AND IS ONLY ALLOWED TO HAVE THREE OR FOUR VISITORS PER SESSION.
Jacque has been receiving a throng of visitors, including media personalities and politicians, but none of them have been allowed to access to her while they have their phones. The source added that:
SHE CAN CHOOSE TO SEE YOU OR NOT. THE PRISON WARDERS NORMALLY WRITE THE NAMES OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHOWN UP TO SEE HER ON A PIECE OF PAPER, AND SHE OKAYS THE LIST OF THOSE WHO WILL BE ALLOWED TO ACCESS HER.

Katwa Kigen a lawyer representing her in her case explained how hard it was to get access to her:
SINCE HER INCARCERATION, IT HAS BEEN VERY HARD TO ACCESS HER. AND WHEN ACCESS HAS BEEN GIVEN TO COUNSEL, YOUR HONOUR, IT HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE IN A PUBLIC SPACE, WHICH MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE CONFIDENTIAL CONVERSATION BETWEEN A CLIENT AND HER ADVOCATE TO BE CONDUCTED.

At least now he will be able to confer with his client freely and with her home clothes.
