Three female revellers caused a commotion as they fought for Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s attention at Carnivore Restaurant during the Gatanga Night show.
Kuria remained calm, leaning on a sofa at the Simba Saloon VIP section as his friends and bodyguards tried to calm down two women who wanted to scratch a colleague who was sitting next to Kuria.
For the better part of the November 9 night event organised by Gatanga leaders and musicians, the three women were part of Kuria’s circle, raving at the VIP section where revellers coughed Sh3,000 each.
The event marked a return of Gatanga Night that came to a halt in 2012. Eleven politicians graced the event, alongside prominent personalities from Murang’a County.
The women boogied together with the MP who enjoyed mingling with the crowd. But all hell broke loose when the event came to a close at around 5.20am and the intoxicated women started chaos.
They accused the unidentified woman of gate-crashing their party. But the lass remained put, sandwiched between Kuria and his friends and protected as the duo jumped up and down shouting that they were going to settle their bills and walk out.
Meanwhile, fellow legislators and revellers had left the club. Kuria was in the company of over 20 friends, largely men, who encircled him to conceal the commotion but the women became wilder, drawing the attention of other customers and bar attendants.
The restaurant management had to call the police when commotion that had gone on for over 30 minutes seemed to be getting out of hand. Kuria stared helplessly as the drama drew larger crowds.
Plans to eject the two women flopped until Kuria was drawn away.
The women were then marched to the parking lot and sat separately in three Prados and driven out as the MP’s friends gave chase in a Range Rover and Subaru Legacy. A staffer hinted that the management did not know how to deal with the matter without offending Kuria and his guests, while maintaining order at the same time.
“The women got too intoxicated and became uncontrollable. We decided not to let our security meddle in the matter and let mheshimiwa and his friends sort it out. But the management was getting impatient,” said the staff.
By the time the police drove into the premises, Kuria and his buddies had left.
