Migori Governor Okoth Obadi will spend another night at the Gigiri Police Station, following his arrest over the possession of items including eight firearms.
The ruling was made by Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani when Obado appeared before her.
Prosecution's Request
The prosecution sought to have governor Obado detained for two weeks in the case involving his arrest over alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Led by Ms Catherine Mwaniki, the prosecution stated that the 15 days in their application will allow them to run definitive inquiries in a bid to refer among other charges; possible firearms without valid certificates and possession of ammunition.

The prosecution told the court that upon questioning, Obado did not give adequate reasons on how he was in possession of the firearms and ammunition in question which is contrary to the Firearms Acts.
Through lawyer Rogers Sagana, Obado, however, told the court that the firearms in question were not subject of dispute as they were verified.
Sharon's Case Involved
He further argued that one of the bail terms in his criminal case in the murder of Sharon Otieno of 2018, barred him from being in his Rapogi home, so the idea that he would interfere with the probe was unpropitious.
Governor Obado was apprehended on Wednesday after officers of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided his homes and office.

Mr Obado was accused of using proxies, among them his relatives, to syphon Ksh2 billion from the coffers of the county government, according to an affidavit filed in court by the anti-corruption watchdog.
