Rongo University students disrupted the funeral of Sharon Otieno as the demanded justice for their slain comrade.
They surrounded her coffin chanting ‘rest in power’ disrupting the area MP Peter Kaluma who was making a speech. The Legislator and family lawyer had to stop the program to allow the student to grieve their comrade.
The students eulogized Sharon as a good comrade and demanded that the perpetrators are brought to book.
The Dean of students said that Sharon did not deserve to die in that manner.
“Sharon did not have to die in such a brutal manner, ” he said.
Sharon’s mother Melida Auma fainted after being overwhelmed by emotion as the body arrived at their homestead.
Relatives tried to make her regain consciousness for more than one hour. Her father appeared calm. Sharon will be buried at her grandfathers homestead in Magare village
