Joseph Irungu’s friend Jennings Orlando has now turned into a state witness and will testify against the former in Monica Kimani’s murder case.
This comes after the General Service Unit (GSU) officer was arrested on Thursday last week and was taken to a Kiambu court where the prosecution was given 14 days to conclude investigations.
According to Standard, detectives have concluded their investigations and Mr. Orlando was not at slain Monica Kimani’s house as earlier speculated.
Reports indicated that Orlando told detectives that he met Jowie on September 19 and they went to a Kilimani bar for a drink, where they stayed from around 6 to 8pm when Jowie told him that he wanted to visit a friend who had come from South Sudan.
Jowie then dropped Jennings at a petrol station in Kilimani which also had a bar, where he was to wait for him until he returned at around 11pm.
The new development comes even as Joseph Irungu and his girlfriend Jacque Maribe are set to appear in Court today, for their bail application hearing.
The two will appear before Justice James Wakiaga of the Criminal Division at the Milimani Court
