Alikiba: Why I pulled down new music video from YouTube

Tanzanian musician Alikiba has explained why he pulled down a new music video from his YouTube channel shortly after uploading it to the video-sharing platform last Tuesday.

Alikiba had released a new jam titled “Hela”, and a poor reception of the song, critics said, forced the artiste to delete the music video.

A section of the musician’s fans faulted the concepts in the “Hela” music video, while others claimed he had recycled and made minor adjustments to an older music video.

But Alikiba has rubbished those claims, saying the reason for his decision was founded on the fact that he “never releases new music on Tuesdays”.

“I dropped the music video on Tuesday – a day of the week that I don’t usually release any new song. So, I told my YouTube channel administrator to pull down the music video. I should be releasing the music video today – Thursday. That explains why you couldn’t view the music video on Tuesday and Wednesday, but if you look for it on Thursday, you find it on the video-sharing platform,” Alikiba told Tanzania’s ‘Global Publishers’ on Thursday, October 4.
