A 15-year-old boy was on Saturday arrested after he allegedly defiled his sister’s eight-month old daughter at Ogarama village in Ugenya, Siaya County.
Confirming the incident, Sihayi sub-location assistant chief William Lala said the little girl’s mother had gone to the market, leaving her child under the care of the Standard Eight pupil.
The administrator said the alleged defilement was discovered when the woman returned home only to find the child bleeding from her private parts.
The woman rushed her daughter to the nearby Urenga Health Center before they were referred to Ukwala sub-county Hospital where the child was admitted for treatment.
She then reported the matter to Ukwala Police Station before the suspect was arrested and detained.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court to face defilement charges on Monday.
